NOAA NCDC CFC Raffle

As part of NOAA/National Climatic Data Center's (NCDC) participation in the 2007 Combined Federal Campaign, NCDC is holding a raffle.  The raffle is open to all Federal employees working in Western NC.  The grand prize is a 32-inch LCD flat panel HDTV, and the second prize is a $50 gift certificate from Sam's Club (can be used at Wal-mart too).  Tickets are available from your local CFC key worker for $5 apiece or 6 for $25.  For complete information, please scroll down on this page.

Official contest rules:

Entry into this contest is voluntary and constitutes entrant’s agreement to abide by the following rules.  Raffle is open to all federal employees who are employed in Western North Carolina.  Federal employees may enter as often as they wish and assign their entries to others of their choosing, but all entrants or their designates must be at least 18 years of age.  Tickets must be purchased from a CFC key worker and must be filled out at the time of purchase.  All proceeds from this raffle will benefit the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) charities.  On their raffle ticket(s), entrant may specify their federal organization and the 5-digit code for any CFC charity they wish their entry fee to benefit.  If entrant does not indicate their organization on their raffle ticket, credit for the entry fee will be given to NCDC CFC.  If entrant specifies their organization on their raffle ticket, that organization’s CFC will receive credit for their entry fee.  If no specific charity is indicated on the entrant’s raffle ticket, the entry fee will be allocated to the CFC’s undesignated fund and will be disbursed to CFC charities according to CFC policies.

Raffle prize drawing will be conducted by the United Way of Asheville-Buncombe County on or around November 2nd, 2007.  The last date for entry is October 31, 2007 or when all tickets are sold, whichever is sooner. Winner does not need to be present at the drawing to win.  Winner will be responsible for any and all taxes due as a result of acceptance of the prize.  Actual retail value of the television is $699; retail value of the Sam’s Club gift certificate is $50.  The results of the raffle drawing, including the name and organization of the winner will be publicized.  If grand prize winner declines the prize, the second place winner will be awarded the grand prize in lieu of the second prize, and a new winner will be selected to receive the second prize.  If the second prize winner declines their prize, another ticket will be drawn to determine the winner of the second prize.  Entry tickets that are illegible or on which the entrant’s name or contact information is absent or incorrect will be deemed void and a new ticket will be drawn.  The odds of winning depend upon the number of entries received, but will be no greater than 1:2000.  Any questions regarding this raffle should be addressed to NCDC CFC chairs: Karsten Shein (Karsten.Shein@noaa.gov) or Dee Dee Anders (Deedee.Anders@noaa.gov).  If the raffle is cancelled, entrants may request a refund of actual ticket purchase price.  Any disputes regarding this raffle shall be resolved by the decision of the NCDC Deputy Director.
